Clinical Psychology Research Opportunity
Students were joined by a Trainee Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
Psychology students were joined by Adele from Staffordshire University and NHS Midlands Partnership Trust recently to learn more about her role as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
The year 13 class were given an insight into the role of a Clinic Psychologist and learnt more about pathways into the career to inform their post-18 decision-making. The in depth presentation allowed students to hear Adele's personal journey into the career and the duties and responsibilities it entails.
Following the initial presentation students also learnt more about the research process and had the opportunity to contribute to a research study entitled - 'Exploring the experiences of Year 11 school-leavers impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic'. The study focused on the experiences of young people in their last year of secondary school and how it felt to leave school early without the usual exams, prom and shirt signings, because of Covid-19.
The valuable session allowed sixth form students to understand in more detail the role of a Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and the importance of conducting research within the sector, supporting their ongoing careers conversations.
